OCaml Roundup: December 2025 › Outreachy December Round [outreachy-december-round]

December marks the beginning of a new Outreachy round, and I am very excited to be working with Tambe Salome on improving the ocaml-tiff library.

In particular, we will be adding the ability to write TIFF files from raw data. I imagine an API something like:

So far Salome has been making excellent progress churning through some issues that are blocking us from starting the main project, including:

  1. Adding a sublibrary for Eio.

  2. Using the new Nx library.

  3. Uncovering bugs in our decoding of the number of bits per pixel

  4. Preliminary work on write support!

As a community, the mentors and mentees also had a community call to introduce ourselves to eachother. I am very excited about the Yocaml project and the two Raven projects.
